20/20 Monte Minor (May 2008)
The 20/20 went off well last Saturday night (10/5/08), with a full
compliment of 15 teams. Keith and Howard, provided a challenging route,
although Chin had to reel them back in for the complexity of their
navigation.
The route started at the Fighting Cocks Horton Kirby at 10 pm and ran
through to around 2:30 with a finish at Danaway and a regroup at Farthing
Corner on the A2. By the look of all of the tired faces and stories of
re-encountered meals, it was obvious that everyone enjoyed themselves, even
though there was not a lot of energy left.
Thanks go to all of the marshals who turned out to support us and for the
sterling work done by the organising team. Here's to the next event.
Another mishap for Peter Baylis (Oct 2006)
Peter Baylis and Anthony Blyth had a good finish on the Tempest Stages
clubman event, finishing a creditable 8th overall and 8th in class. This
was achieved even with the damage you see below and a wrong route at a
split leading to a stage maximum time.
The event was a run through of a number of the usual Stages, however, at
Longmoor a couple of the old stages were joined to make a single long one,
with gravel separated by a small tarmac section. Unfortunately it was in the
tarmac section and running on gravel tyres that caused the team to career
off in to an electrical power sub-station. Luckily there is only superficial
damage and they hope to be ready for February and the start of the
season. (The guys would like to thank Russ Burton who kindly lent his
sandwich back as a temporary headlight lens!)
